About BFSServicesSubslab VaporLimited Access Probing

Limited Access Probing
BFS performs soil borings in extreme confined and/or limited access locations. These are places where you can't readily – if at all – gain access with a Geoprobe rig. Said boreholes are advanced in 2-foot intervals. Total attainable depth is highly dependent on soil characteristics and whether subsurface obstructions exist. Practically speaking, maximum depth can usually be capped at 10 feet [below ground surface] in ideal conditions.

Relevant examples of severely limited access sampling locations include:
  • steep slopes
  • extra low overhead clearances
  • narrow/tight spaces
  • raised areas
  • fenced-off or otherwise obstructed spaces
  • soil stock piles
  • areas of extra dense vegetation
  • basements/sub-levels

Definitely do not skip important sampling locations due to no/poor access; and do not settle on samples collected by primitive, archaic methods such as a hand auger or shovel.
